  • VISA information

    Citizens of the United States, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, and Costa Rica with passports valid for six months and onward or return tickets, are allowed visa-free entry to Taiwan at any of its major international ports and harbors, for a period of 14 days. The length of stay cannot be extended, so if you are planning to stay longer, it is best to obtain a visa in advance. For more information, please contact the local Taiwanese representative offices.   • Direction to Hotels (Leader, Howard and Lu-ming Guest House):

    • By taxi:
      Taxi queues are outside the Arrival Halls of terminals. To ensure the safety of passengers, only the taxis approved by the Aviation Police Bureau are permitted to operate in Taoyuan Airport. Taxis are available at Taoyuan Airport 24 hours a day. Airport taxis charge according to the meter in addition to a 50% surcharge (highway tolls not included) and provide transport to anywhere in Taiwan. A typical taxi fare to Taipei is approx. NT$1,100. Please tell the taxi driver you are going to

    • By shuttle bus:
      After you arrive at the Taoyuan Airport, Taiwan, you can take the shuttle bus to Taipei city directly. There is a non-stop airport shuttle around every 10-20 min. See the following airport information and http://www.taoyuanairport.gov.tw/web/english/transportation/taipei_e.jsp

      Please take Evergreen Bus since it will stop closer to the NTU campus. The shuttle fare is NT$ 135. Please get off at Zhong Xiao Fuxing MRT Station which is stop number 8 in the following map.

      If you have a lot of luggage, we suggest you to take taxi here and tell the driver to bring you to the Leader Hotel or other accommodation quickly (see above for addresses, they are all marked in the following figure). Please print out the hotel webpage (or the attached figure) and show it to the driver. The taxi route is marked as (1) red; (2) dark blue; and (3) green. The taxi fare should be roughly NT$100-150 depending on the local traffic.

      If you don¡¦t have any heavy luggage and want to enjoy the public transportation system in Taipei, you could take MRT from Zhong Xiao Fuxing station to Gongguan station. Take Nangang-Banqiao-Tucheng Line first (Youngning or Far Eastern Hospital direction) and transfer to Danshui-Xindian Line (Xindian direction) at Tapei Main station. See the following website for detailed MRT information. The fare is NT$25. However, this is not recommended if you are not brave enough. http://www.trtc.com.tw/e/

  • Presentation Instruction

    All presenters (both oral and poster) can bring their presentation on DVD, Memory Stick, and CD-ROM. These presentations will be collected when the speakers check in at the registration desk and the printed version (pdf format) of these presentations will be available at the end of the workshop.

      Oral Presentations:
      All invited oral presenters are encouraged to bring additional posters if possible.
    • Key note speakers: 50 minutes (questions and answers included)
    • Oral Speakers: 40 minutes (questions and answers included)
    • One PC (Windows XP) and LCD projectors are available. If you are using MAC, please send us your presentation file at least one day earlier so that we can set it up for you.
    • Type of File for Microsoft PowerPoint is available.
    • Type of Film for MPEG is available
      • You can connect your own laptop to the projectors. However, this is not recommended.
      • We highly recommend you to bring, connect, and check with your laptop before your presentation.
      • Additional PC is available for checking purpose near the registration desk.
      • Speakers who wish to request any other equipment should contact and check with us by April 15.
      Poster Presentations:
    • The size of a poster board is 60 cm (width) x 120 (height).
    • Posters should be readable by viewers one meter away. The poster title, author(s)’s names(s) and affiliation(s) should appear at the top. The message should be clear and self-explanatory.
    • Each poster should be placed on the poster board assigned to each presenter except the additional posters from the invited speakers. The presentation number will be announced when you check in.
    • All poster presenters are requested to affix their posters from 9:30 to 10:00 on April 23 (Wednesday).
    • The poster-boards are placed just outside the meeting room.
  • Others:
    • Free wireless internet access in the meeting room
    • An additional PC is available in the workshop room for email access
    • There is an afternoon tour to National Palace Museum on April 25 after the workshop. Interested participants can register during the workshop (NT$200 per person; ticket, transportation and insurance included). We will make further announcement in the workshop.
